How to cut a Faux Hawk depends on your desired approach. If you choose a professional hairstylist, pick up the phone and make your appointment. If you want to cut your own hair, it is highly recommended that you enlist the help of a friend. Either way, the experience will make for a fun conversational piece.

Defining a person's character by their hair style of choice might be a challenge. There are so many people from different cultures who wear their hair the same. But, their reasons for doing so will vary. Whatever the reason, it provides a front row seat to the evolution of hair.

Before you start this process you are going to need to gather some supplies. You will need scissors, rubber bands, two mirrors, hair clippers and a friend to help guide you. You might also want to consider some type of mousse or gel for styling, this is completely optional.

Taking your time in any life changing venture is always a good thing. Hair will grow back, but you deserve to receive the style you want. Knowing what you want and how you want it are the blue prints to your success. So, get synchronized with your friend and the instructional guidelines for this project.

Make sure that you and your partner share your individual interpretations of the instructions. Having this dialogue will accomplish two very important things. First it will create one shared understanding, and then it will clarify how the two of you will execute the steps together.

For the first phase of this project you will need to determine the thickness of your hawk. The hawk is the center between your eyes and will be the longest part of this style. Make sure the hair is not wet when you measure the width of your hawk. The natural dry state of the hair will allow for an exact measurement of how your hawk will be displayed.

Now shampoo and towel dry the hair. You will be separating the hair on the sides to create the hawk in the middle. Begin your part at the base of the hairline and on either side where you want the hawk to begin its separation from the sides. Remember you have already decided the thickness, so your starting point has been predetermined. Make your part to the nape of the neck and repeat on the other side. Use the rubber bands to section the hawk into three parts.

If you find that your hair on the sides is too long, now would be a good time to trim it. Cutting the hair down a bit will make it clipper - friendly. Once again you have some idea of the shape you want, so do not cut too much. Take the sheers and begin to cut each side down to the desired length. Remove the rubber bands from the middle section and layer the hawk to compliment the sides. Use your preferred styling product and comb if necessary.

How to cut a faux hawk depends on your desired outcome. Whether you are male, female, young or mature this universal hairstyle compliment the life styles of many. It is bold and unassuming while carrying a wide range of messages that are beneficial to the progression of hair.
